Handbells Are Back!
Both services can plan on enjoying an anthem from the Jubilant Bells, titled "Joyful Reflections". Make sure you arrive on time for the service if you want to hear them, as they will be playing the prelude at the 8am and the 10:30am services.
Traditional Service
A bit about hymn tunes....
The scripture today includes Jesus' description of the Holy Spirit, and in our Gathering Hymn "God of Tempest, God of Whirlwind," we will sing about our desire for the Holy Spirit to descend on us "as on Pentecost."
If you peek at the bottom of a hymn, you might see a tune name identified. It is not uncommon for a certain hymn tune to have more than one text setting, and for the authors of those text settings to be a different person than the composer of the hymn tune. For example, "God of Tempest, God of Whirlwind" is set to CWM RHONDDA. That same tune (CWN RHONDDA) is also used for the classic English hymn "Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer."
So if you've ever heard the organ play an introduction to a hymn that is very familiar to you, but when it comes time to sing and the words DO NOT match what you expect...you are most likely experiencing a case of an alternate text setting!
Contemporary Service
Gathering Song: Alleluia, Love is Alive!
Thank you so much for your willingness to try this song at our past Easter Service! We will get to sing it again as a congregation on 4/19, and I encourage you to listen to the lyric video below to get ready. I hope it is as powerful an ear worm for you as it has been for me these past few weeks!
Another callback to our Easter service, this song was performed by the praise team as a prelude, and it will return as our sending song on 4/19. I have provided another lyric video for you to check out, and I can't wait to hear it when we all sing together! :-)
Thank you!
